Responsibilities

Manages the daily activities of the Process Engineering Group to ensure that production, efficiency, and quality goals are met. Coordinates all activities involving the implementation of new product development, BOCA, and technological advancements.

 

 

  • Directs the efforts of Process Engineering Group through good managerial skills and establishes goals in order to produce positive results. Supports product and technological advancements as a key resource for the entire organization. 

 

  • Process Reliability. 

 

  • Coordinates the trial activity for the plant. 

 

  • Develop and maintain processes to support Berry Global, QAKE, and ISO standards. 

 

  • Insures that SOCs are maintained and are up to date. 

 

  • Works closely with customers to define product requirements and translates them into controllable process parameters. 

 

  • Determines company’s process capabilities to consistently run to target and meet the customer’s product requirements. 

 

  • Defines and reports opportunities for process reliability improvement. 

 

  • Works closely with the Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, Plant Director, and manufacturing teams to recommend and justify needed equipment upgrades or modifications. 

 

  • Defines and reports opportunities for product reliability. 

 

  • Facilitates / Delivers training for  manufacturing team members in the following areas: 
  • Statistical methods for improving equipment utilization. 
  • Process capability studies to optimize specific product processes by product and by line. 
  • Control chart analysis to reduce key property variation through assignable cause identification and corrective action. 

 

  1. Supervisory Responsibilities:

    2. Supervision Given Process Engineers and Process Technicians 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field is required.   

 

  • Experience 
  • Seven years of manufacturing experience preferred (plastic manufacturing is a plus).  An in-depth understanding of chemical properties within the plastic industry is desired. 
  • Must have 3+ years of experience in a Process Engineering role. 
  • A working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is preferred. 
  • Experience leading problem solving and/or continuous improvement teams is preferred. 
  • Physical/Cognitive Requirements 

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, process, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write technical reports and routine correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups. 

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures associated with the process department. 

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

 

Physical Demands: Requires prolonged sitting and frequent bending, stooping and stretching; manual dexterity; the ability to distinguish letters; occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. 

 

  • Equipment:

Must understand the basic fundamentals of plastic product machinery and the process behind the mechanics.  Must be familiar with the use of office equipment, such as a computer, calculator, telephone, copier and fax machine. 

 

  •  Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office and manufacturing environment with frequent contact with customers. 

 

  •  Internal and External Contacts: 

 Internal contacts include technicians, co-workers, plant directors, and other engineers with the Company. External contacts include customers, vendors, and suppliers.
