The Electrical Engineer will design, build, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental and production electrical and electronic components, parts, equipment, process control and computer systems for operations.

Responsibilities

   

  • Develop and lead Preventive and Predictive Maintenance System for Plant Electrical System and Equipment (Electrical) to increase uptime and improve reliability.
  • Lead/Coordinate capital projects on new installation and upgrade of existing equipment.
  • Electrical design, drawing from layout up to commissioning to meet Electrical Safety Code applicable as per Provincial standard set forth.
  • Work closely with Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) on inspections, approvals and modifications to meet the requirements set forth by the Safety Authority.
  • Assist project engineers with design and installation of electric/electronic components, equipment, and systems.
  • Propose, justify, and initiate changes and improvements through work orders or projects to computer systems and languages, power distribution systems, and electrical/electronic aspects of the plant equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain the various computerized process control systems and provide assistance to the Control Group in the repair and the maintenance of these systems.
  • Work closely with the Control Group as a resource. Assist Control Mechanics in general troubleshooting as required.
  • Provide training as required.
  • Maintain and update electrical/electronic drawings and files.
  • Analyze and interpret test data, issue reports and make presentations to management.
  • Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify systems and components for reliable and continuous improvement in performance.
  • Write technical reports and develop charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.
  • Check functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Supervise the Electrical Technician.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering degree.
  • 2 - 4 Years of working experience in the Manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience with PLC programming is considered an asset
  • PEO License (Professional Engineers Ontario) preferred. PMP or Project Management experience is considered an asset.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Fluent in the English language.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Travel is limited and as required, to successfully complete assigned tasks. The candidate must be willing to travel and eligible to traverse borders.
