As a member of the regional supply chain team, the Logistics Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the inbound, outbound, and inter-company freight network. This role will lead the strategy, direction, and compliance of all transportation requirements, and manage Magnera’s 4PL provider for all associated facilities within the US & Canada region. This role will be closely monitoring execution of the plan, route guide adherence and optimization, cost save opportunities, and project management and will appropriately coordinate with the site shipping teams, customer service, carriers, and procurement to ensure cost to deliver and service are balanced.
- Lead planning of inbound and outbound loads to maximize market savings and drive efficiency while meeting customer service requirements
- Coordinate with Procurement in managing shipping volumes and develop carrier capacity within the respective geographic market/product group
- Lead and mentor warehousing/shipping teams on daily execution of transportation plan and act as regional SME for shipping functions within the ERP
- Implement best practice logistics principles, policies and, processes across the organization to improve operational and financial performance
- In collaboration with the Procurement Team, negotiate rates, review contracts, and assist in yearly RFP with transportation and logistics providers
- In collaboration with the Procurement team, manage carrier compliance and development to ensure quality service for internal/external customers.
- Lead cross-functional teams to track and improve key performance indicators
- Act as a liaison for Supply Chain and Commercial teams to review impact of network changes such as mode selection, volume migration, and market trends.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimization opportunities
- Lead DOT driver/facility compliance for the US&C region
- Manage freight claims process and drive process compliance with local teams
- Support other special projects and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
- BS in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or equivalent of 5+ years’ experience in Supply Chain Management and/or Logistics positions
- Ability to lead and influence in a matrix environment
- Attention to detail and effective time management
- Proficiency in gathering, analyzing, interpreting, and communicating data
- Effectively communicate with customers, both external and internal
- Working knowledge of technical regulations related to logistics and global trade
- Extensive experience with TMS applications and SAP S4
- Willingness to travel when required; travel up to 35%
