Purpose: Position actively participates in repairing, maintaining, failure avoidance, and continuous improvement maintenance functions to ensure the proper operations of machines and equipment. This position also supports the Planned PM Specialist ensuring new parts are checked in the CMMS system and setting up PM kits for planned PMs. Position supports a 24/7 manufacturing environment requiring overtime and on call availability as needed to support plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance to all safety policies and procedures.  Establish, support and maintain a “safety first” culture. 
  • Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventative actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
  • Communicates with internal and external stakeholders the requirements of the preventive maintenance task.
  •  Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
  • Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
  • Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
  • Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Document Work Orders (WO) using Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Orders and installs replacement parts for machines.
  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
  • Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
  • Prepares reports documenting work performed.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinates with manager to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) or more years of related experience required. Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
  • Works well independently and with others.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and able to create and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understand and adhere to Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) Procedures, and all other Plant Safety/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements related to supporting machinery uptime.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, bend, and stretch. Use hands & fingers to handle or feel objects, pushing/pulling, tools or controls; reach with arms and hands; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crawl.  
  • The Employee is frequently required to work at heights and stand/walking/climbing stairs.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds.
