The Environmental Leader is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing policies and procedures that ensure Magnera’s adherence to environmental and sustainability requirements and best practices. This role involves conducting research, completing audits, preparing reports, and ensuring management system/programs to minimize the environmental impact of operations. It also requires a deep understanding of both local and global environmental issues and the ability to guide a company towards more sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and improve environmental policies, standards and procedures to support effective global EHS Management System and consistency of approach.
  • Lead the development of environmental audit tools for compliance with company and regulatory requirements. This includes local, state and federal requirements as well as rules established by the international regulatory and economic communities. Drive regular audits to assess facility compliance with company and regulatory requirements, and report to various levels of management
  • Monitor company environmental performance, develop strategies to address gaps and report on progress
  • Oversee tracking, preparation, management and review of permits and regulatory documentation
  • Facilitate environmental training and awareness programs across company
  • Lead initiatives and global program oversight to reduce waste and improve resource efficiency.  Develop and manage sustainability programs and projects and partner with sustainability group to ensure information requirements are met.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure environmental considerations are integrated into business decisions
  • Manage company environmental risks and support remediation efforts
  • Engage with stakeholders on environmental issues and corporate social responsibility
  • Provide technical advice to facilities and company leadership on environmental management topics
  • Stay updated on new laws and regulations affecting the environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Manufacturing experience in similar industry
  • Professional certification such as CEP, HAZWOPER, CHMM, CSP, etc.
  • 5+ years multi-site experience in environmental compliance management and sustainability
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal & influence skills
  • Experience with environmental impact assessment and mitigation
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools for environmental management
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001/Environmental Management Systems
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance with global oversight experience
  • Experience in conducting environmental audits
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in data analysis and report writing
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail
