This role had previously been recruited for and offered and we were waiting for the notice period to be worked. Unfortunately on the day before expected start date, the applicant withdrew his acceptance and didn't join the Company. This role is required to support the Electrical & Instrumentation function of the Engineering Department providing on-call support 1 week in 5 as well as being assigned as an on-site specialist support in assigned areas.

Provide area based electrical and automation expertise, which will enable the department to operate at a level of availability and performance within agreed standards. Ensure that maintenance / reliability programmes and project upgrades are carried out efficiently to standard and within budgets.
The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician will be accountable for ensuring their area of responsibility operates at a high level of availability though provision of effective planned preventative and remedial maintenance.
The candidate will be a highly motivated with excellent communication and team working skills and a flexible approach to work with previous experience within a similar continuous process environment. The candidate will demonstrate previous experience, sound knowledge and understanding of safe working practices on low and medium voltage systems, AC/DC motor drives, PLC programming languages along with knowledge of SCADA/MMI systems.
The area based E&I Technician will be an active participant of the morning MDI SQDC meetings, leading and co-ordinating investigations, identifying root causes and implement solutions to any problems occurring within the area of responsibility. Engage in the development and failure reduction activities, driving route cause and problem solving.
The successful candidate must keep abreast of technical developments to ensure improvements to both engineering and operational performance.
The E&I Technician must have the technical, operational and practical experience to make immediate, considered judgements in breakdown situations, paying due regard to the safety and financial implications. This is against a background of continual pressure to satisfy and improve production requirements all of which could lead to out of hours working.
