The Shift Team Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing daily production functions, maintaining high operational standards, safety and quality while contributing to a positive and efficient workplace culture. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential Job Duty and Requirements listed below which represent the knowledge, skill, and abilities required.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews production orders and schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products as well as scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Plans production operations to provide trained and qualified personnel to execute priorities and sequences for manufacturing products per provided schedules or direct input from management.
  • Executes operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure the quality of products meets specifications.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs to prevent operational delays.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices.
  • Meets daily expectations for reclaim and reprocessing activities.
  • Supports quality initiatives on a shift-to-shift basis. Completes QIR’s in a timely fashion when quality issues arise.
  • Completes Technical Call-in forms accurately when problems arise and distributes and files accordingly. Issues deviations as instructed and documents approval sequence.
  • Acts as the Company conduit for communication.
  • Actively monitors uptime of equipment and housekeeping.
  • Completes an accurate and up to date handover every shift.
  • Leads Rack-up meetings.
  • Completes all SES and assigned audits.
  • Coordinates all training initiatives with employees, area leaders and trainers to provide trained operators for production demand and relief coverage.
  • Completes audits as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, administrative guidelines, collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and all applicable laws.
  • Manages employees in the Tape Extrusion/ Beaming Areas, Weaving Shed, Finishing Area, Shift support personnel, and Reprocessing Area.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these areas.
  • Administers proper payment (payroll) for all direct reports.
  • Administers crew vacation as per guidelines.
  • Setting clear goals and motivating their team to achieve production targets. 
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training for employees, as required.
  • Performing yearly and monthly performance appraisals.
  • Auditing safety processes, operation procedures and practices.
  • Provide discipline and coaching to employees when required.
  • Addressing comments and complaints from employees.

 HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary responsibility is for the safety of their direct reports. This includes the provision of training, providing a minimum of 12 safety meetings per year and timely completion of level 1 incident reports.
  • Plans, schedules, and facilitates employee Operator and safety training as required with trainers and Area leader assistance.
  • Responsible for 100% completion of all safety metrics within the designated times.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum High school diploma is required.
  • Minimum five years related experience and/or training is an asset.
  • Supervisory experience is an asset.

 COMPETENCIES:

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Fluent in the English language.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to speak to a large audience (employees).

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage, and draw and interpret graphs.

REASONING & OTHER ABILITIES

  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions provided in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong attendance record.

 COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Effectively utilizes technology to carry out duties and responsibilities.
  • Computer literacy is required in the Qantel system, WINcc, Microsoft Office and the applicable payroll electronic pay system.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times.
  • Must be able to work continental shift work (12 hour Days, 12 hour Nights).
  • POSITION LOCATION: North Bay, Ontario, Canada.
