The Business Excellence Manager plays a significant role in enhancing organizational efficiency and effectiveness through facilitation of improvement initiatives. This position focuses activities to streamline operations, reduce waste, optimize workflows and implement global systems/processes across Magnera and helps create plans to ensure that the organization meets its goals, continues to grow, transform, and improve. By employing Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement techniques and methodologies, the Business Excellence Manager collaborates with site and functional teams to identify areas for improvement, design solutions, and execute projects. Their efforts are geared towards achieving higher productivity, improving quality, increasing transparency and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, ultimately contributing to the organization’s overall performance and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional teams to identify and implement improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, reducing waste, improving overall operational performance and creating consistency of approach across Magnera. 
  • Documents and maps current state processes, identifies bottlenecks and waste, and highlights opportunities for improvement.
  • Design, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the effectiveness of process improvements and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with functional leaders and senior management to charter and prioritize improvement projects based on potential impact, resource availability, and strategic importance.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to drive strategic process optimization projects from inception through to successful completion/impact delivery
  • Support the development and delivery of business excellence training programs to build organizational capability and embed a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate the adoption of new technologies, software and automation tools that support process improvement and business transformation initiatives.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews for completed projects to assess outcomes, quantify benefits realized, and identify lessons learned for future improvement efforts.
  • Lead activities to simplify and streamline transactional and business processes to improve productivity and reduce costs.
  • Actively share and drive replication of project learnings and successes across company where applicable for improvements and synergies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Business, Engineering, or related field. MBA a plus.
  • 7+ years of related professional experience in manufacturing company. 3+ years in operational excellence/project management focused roles. Line management experience is a plus.
  • Background in operational improvement, process optimization and systems implementation. Hands-on experience in leading projects aimed at enhancing efficiency, cost innovation and reducing waste within various organizational contexts.
  • Demonstrated Black Belt level impact and certification required. Understanding of lean management principles and Six Sigma methodologies with a track record of demonstrated results. Strong value stream/process mapping and Kaizen experience.
  • History of collaborating across departments and functions to drive rapid change and achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Critical Skills: Process Mapping(Current/Future State), Value Stream Assessment, Facilitation, Benchmarking, Change Management, Project Team Leadership, Communication, Financial Acumen
  • Ability to lead others through influence with a demonstrated history of successfully collaborating to drive results/business impact.
  • Travel – 50%
