Responsibilities

Procurement Operations Manager responsible for leading a team of Junior Buyers and Operational Buyers, overseeing day-to-day transactional procurement activities across multiple European regions and sites. The role ensures procurement compliance, process efficiency, and stakeholder satisfaction, while contributing to the execution of sourcing strategies and continuous improvement initiatives. You will play a key role in standardizing procurement processes, enhancing ERP utilization, and acting as the primary escalation point for supplier or transactional issues. This position requires strong leadership, operational discipline, and the ability to collaborate in a dynamic, multi-country environment.

 

Team Leadership & Operational Oversight

  • Manage a team of Buyers responsible for transactional procurement across multiple European sites.
  • Coordinate workload across the team and ensure timely execution of procurement tasks.
  • Provide hands-on support in processing requisitions and placing purchase orders when required.
  • Monitor and improve daily procurement execution, focusing on order accuracy, timeliness, and supplier responsiveness.
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to ensure purchasing needs are met efficiently.
  • Conduct team reviews, training, and continuous skill development.

Transactional Procurement

  • Execute procurement activities using ERP systems such as SAP Hana, ECC, Oracle, Navision, Sage PRMS or similar
  • Ensure correct and timely creation of purchase orders based on approved requisitions.
  • Maintain SOX Controls and avoiding SoD Conflicts
  • Track and expedite open orders to ensure timely delivery to sites across Europe.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement trackers and reports for visibility and control.
  • Resolve day-to-day procurement-related issues including material availability, incorrect deliveries, and invoicing mismatches.
  • Ability to act as buyer/ carry out transactional activity on need basis and be hand-on lead.
  • Publish Procurement-Control Reports.
  • Conduct Site specific review meetings.

Process & Compliance

  • Support the implementation of standardized procurement processes across all operating sites.
  • Collaborate with Finance and AP teams to resolve invoice discrepancies and payment delays.
  • Enforce procurement policies and procedures across the team to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Support audits and reporting requirements by maintaining proper documentation and transactional records.

Supplier Coordination

  • Serve as the escalation point for supplier delivery or service issues raised by buyers or internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper communication and follow-up with vendors for order confirmations, delivery updates, and issue resolution.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key suppliers at the operational level.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of procurement experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong experience in ERP-based procurement operations (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Navision).
  • Fluent in English (Mandatory); proficiency in any additional European language (German, French, Spanish, or Dutch) is a plus.
  • Hands-on, detail-driven, and capable of balancing team leadership with direct execution work.
  • Strong communication, prioritization, and issue-resolution skills.
  • Comfortable working in a multi-country, matrix organization with cross-functional stakeholders.
