Responsibilities

  • To safely and timely move raw materials, work in process (WIP), finished goods, and scrap materials throughout the facility.
  • To replenish materials as requested/needed using visual signals, order cards, and other replenishment systems.
  • Perform a pre-shift inspection of material handling equipment and document issues on inspection sheet. Remove equipment from service as required.
  • Perform a visual inspection of all incoming material and reporting quality issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain Kanbans and communicate issues to Material Purchasing Group.
  • Participate in LEAN Manufacturing events and support LEAN Manufacturing programs.
  • Follow all plant safety rules. Support plant goals and respect Berry values.
  • Other activities as assigned by Supervisor or Leads.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED

     

    Experience: Previous manufacturing experience required. Qualified as a Machine Operator is required.  A current Berry Global forklift operator license may be required.

     

    Physical/Cognitive Requirements:

    • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as Company policy and procedure manuals.
    • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures relative to inventory and purchasing functions.
    • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of materials handling issues.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.  Demonstration of leadership ability and an understanding of the basics of extrusion and/or conversion.
    • Physical Demands: Requires prolonged sitting and frequent bending, stooping and stretching, manual dexterity, the ability to distinguish letters, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, and the use of office equipment.
