Responsibilities

Operate and maintain assigned line to maintain safety, quality and productivity. Including such activities as trouble shooting spinning fiber breaks, production patrols, web uniformity optimization, line start-ups, operational maintenance and cleaning. Provide support to Line Leader. 

 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Actively participate in risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility.
  • Actively participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis and support implemented corrective actions.
  • Participate in safety observation programs as required.
  • Create and maintain a team effort attitude and team approach within the department and plant,
  • Understand and fully utilize all ISO procedures
  • Meet productivity standards
  • Complete required documentation: Patrols, housekeeping sheets, Web uniformity Audits, etc
  • Troubleshoot issues with quality or productivity related to the team or the machine
  • Make adjustments to machinery as needed: Fiber uniformity, Jet gap or oscillation, process settings, Extruder Control, etc
  • Suggest improvements to processes or procedures
  • Coordinate with maintenance, Team Leader and Engineering for issues and improvements
  • Perform 6S and other housekeeping duties required for clean and safe work environment
  • Train others as needed
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 2 years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lift truck experience strongly preferred
  • Experience using Personal computers with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Windows, and Word.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical demands:

  • Employee must have 20/20 vision corrected in both eyes, to discern various color graphics and color matches.
  • Employee must be able to work rotating 12 hour shifts.
  • Employee must be qualified to operate powered industrial trucks and pass Forklift License Program.
  • Employee must be able to climb, bend, stoop and crawl.
  • Employee must be able to lift up to 35 pounds repeatedly and 50 pounds occasionally
  • Required to frequently ascend and descend up to three flights of stairs over extremely fast moving machinery.
  • Required to safely access fast moving machinery which includes rolls with inward nip points.

Work Environment:

  • Area may or may not be air conditioned or heated, and may be humid and hot or cold depending on seasonal conditions.
  • Exposure to hot and/or abrasive surfaces.
  • Required to be in tight spaces on occasion and to heights daily.
  • Possible exposure to noise levels over 90 decibels for 12 hours at certain locations.
  • Moving machinery or moving objects on production floor.
  • Floor surfaces slippery at times.
  • Exposure to chemicals which may cause eye or skin irritation and/or burns, and irritation to respiratory system.
  • Exposure to static electricity on occasion.
  • Exposure to and use of sharp implements at times.
  • Exposure to outside elements on occasion.

Mental Abilities

  • Ability to make decisions regarding work priorities.
  • Ability to read charts and document numbers and events on paper and in computer.
  • Ability to read electrical indicators and laboratory equipment indicators.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to interact with digital and basic computerized record & control systems.
