Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:               

 

This job is responsible for performing quality laboratory test procedures and analysis to ensure that finished goods, chemicals, raw materials, and other materials submitted for testing are in conformance to set quality standards. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Monitors and records the conduct of physical and analytical tests on raw materials, finished goods and other products following prescribed procedures, on a timely manner and acceptable accuracy and reliability.
  2. Evaluates and assesses all test results in accordance with standard specification.
  3. Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports on laboratory results and analysis, mill review, CF QA alignment meeting presentations, QIS and KPI reports and other reports as may be required.
  4. Manages the planning, set-up, training and operation of the QIS and to other laboratory personnel on proper laboratory methods, procedures, and techniques.
  5. Implements the established health and safe work practices at all times.
    • Conducts safety briefing
    • Laboratory good practices and housekeeping
    • Reports all unsafe conditions observed to immediate superior for action.
    • Identifies hazards in the laboratory, handling and storage of chemicals, others.
  6. Standardization of the concentration of the prepared chemicals.
  7. Conducts 5-point beating on the pulp and other samples in preparation for physical testing.
  8. Conducts physical tests on finished goods to ensure conformance to the specified quality standards.
  9. Performs internal calibration of all test equipment in the laboratory based on the specified calibration schedule.Schedule external calibration testing of all test equipment in the mill.
  10. Validate the chemical, raw material and other quality tests performed by 3rd Part
  11. Verify online tests on quality parameters for continuous improvement conducted by testers and 3rd Party. 
  12. Performs random analytical and quantitative test procedures on water and wastewater samples to ensure conformance to specified quality standards.
  13. Oversee and reviews all third-party tests and analysis
  14. Prepares test analyses and correlation of results in the operations.
  15. Manage stock room and monitor all chemicals and reagents ordered and on-hand.
  16. Prepares requisition of consumable chemicals, reagents, apparatus, equipment and others.
  17. Ensure up to date renewal of permits pertaining to laboratory in conformance with government regulations and policies
  18. Prepare and apply for licenses and permits required in the laboratory operations in compliance to PEZA, PNP, PDEA regulations and others as required.
  19. Performs job responsibilities in compliance with all applicable Environmental, Hygiene, and proper housekeeping procedures at all times.
  20. Performs and observes plant policies and procedures and safe working practices at the site and meets the Company’s mission of “injury-free every day”. Reports hazards and risks in the area.   21. Perform other related duties as may be required from time to time by superiors or may be assigned to other work areas as necessary.

 

WORK RELATIONSHIPS:

 

  1. Reports directly to the QWEC Manager.
  2. Works closely with QA Supervisor and Production.
  3. Coordinates with CF Glatfelter QA Technicians.
  4. Coordinates with Laboratory tester, Materials Quality Analysts, Finished Goods Warehouse and Spare Parts Warehouse Personnel.
  5. Coordinates and review third party service providers test results.
  6. Coordinates external third party service provider on test analysis and calibration tests.

Coordinates with PEZA, BOC, PNP, PDEA and other government agencies as needed

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:      BS Chemistry, Licensed Chemist

Experience:     At least two years laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment.
