The IT Network Engineer position supports the Global WAN and Local LAN environments. The IT Network Engineer  will part of a global IT team and responsible for daily support of network services including Fortinet SDWAN, Cisco and Fortinet Wireless, and LAN management.  The network engineer will follow and help document and improve procedures related to all aspects of network system requests.  The IT Network Engineer will provide off-hours support on a rotating on-call basis.

Responsibilities

  • Install, support, and maintain the global SD-WAN and local LAN, partnering with internal resources to ensure high availability and effective capacity planning
  • Install, support, and maintain next generation firewalls that protect internet points of presence, cloud solutions, intercompany traffic, and OT networks.
  • Perform daily support of global IT teams and services.
  • Provide technical expertise to analyze, troubleshoot and react to technical issues such as WAN\LAN outages or application issues in concert with all relevant parties involved, including but not limited to, internal and external third-party support vendors.
  • Conduct technical analysis of software, hardware, and transmission of data between facilities using various diagnostic tools in support of effective and efficient network operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry technologies through training and self-improvement.
  • Develop and maintain detailed systems documentation including but not limited to architecture diagrams and process documentation for the environment.
  • Partner with internal Information Security team to adhere to policies and controls.
  • This role will be on call for network related escalations.
  • Travel: approximately 10%.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of network support.
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex network issues.
  • Proficiency with network routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
  • Support of Layer 2 and 3 switches.
  • Experience in configuring firewall rules.
  • Experience troubleshooting with Wireshark or other network analysis tools.
  • Fortinet and Cisco certification preferred.
  • Vendor experience:
    • Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, Fortinet SDWAN)
    • Cisco Networking (LAN and Wireless).

COMPETENCIES:

  • Clear verbal and written communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical thinking to identify and resolve complex network issues.
  • Ability to handle a variety of geographically diverse network technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and manage remote support.
