The Trade Compliance Specialist is a hands-on role focused on the daily execution of import and export compliance activities. You’ll be responsible for accurate product classification, documentation, and regulatory adherence—ensuring shipments move without delay while maintaining compliance with U.S. and international trade laws.

Responsibilities

  • Classify products under HTS, ECCN, Schedule B, and other regulatory codes
  • Prepare and review import/export documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, Certificates of Origin, FTA documentation)
  • Ensure timely and accurate customs filings and broker instructions
  • Monitor shipments for compliance issues and resolve holds or discrepancies with brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teams
  • Maintain compliance records in accordance with CBP and other regulatory requirements
  • Support internal audits and provide documentation for government inquiries
  • Update and maintain SOPs, checklists, and compliance databases
  • Assist in onboarding new suppliers/customers with compliance screening and documentation requirements
  • Contribute to the preparation and submission of government filings and disclosures as needed
  • Travel: approximately 10% quarterly as needed.
  • This position is hybrid, on-site 4 days per week

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Certified Customs Broker preferred but not required.
  • 2–4 years of operational trade compliance or customs experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations (CBP, EAR, OFAC; ITAR a plus)
  • Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and ERP systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365; familiarity with trade compliance software preferred
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
