This position is responsible for designing, defining, and delivering new processes, technologies and product innovations

to drive growth defined by the Regional Business segments. Individual is responsible for autonomous evaluation and

planning of new products, processes, and improvements, to include supporting commercialization efforts utilizing

commercial assets

Responsibilities

  • First and foremost, it is the responsibility of the incumbent to perform any and all tasks in a safe manner, keeping in

  • Surveys the technology landscape and evaluates and identifies the best new process and film/laminate products to
  • support strategic initiatives of Magnera.
  • Develops new formulations, products, to support strategic initiatives defined by the Regional Business segments.
  • Manages own projects and leads complex strategic projects.
  • Manages and executes all facets of material and process research to support the development and commercialization
  • of major new innovation ideas/projects. Develops product designs and ideas that fulfill customer requirements while
  • insuring financial success. Defines process parameter and control needs to meet final product specification.
  • Provides strategic and tactical direction and leadership for Technical programs. Works with cross-functional teams
  • involving Product Line Marketing, Sales, Operations, QA, and builds a strong internal and external network
  • consisting of universities, technical institutes, suppliers, consultants, and customers.
  • Independently manages own projects and contributes to complex strategic projects.
  • Designs, coordinates, prioritizes and executes the experimental program to be performed on bench, pilot and/or commercial scale equipment.
  • Support commercialization efforts of new designs and/or applications within Magnera plants and customer locations
  • Responsible for the generation of product FTO and CRF (Concept Record Forms) submissions
  • Uses good practices to define, generate and protect intellectual property for Magnera Corp.
  • Determines test methods, procedures, and trials needed to support project objectives.
  • Analyzes data, issues reports, draws conclusions and makes process, product and/or equipment recommendations based on trial results
  • Mentors and/or coordinates the work of technicians and others who assist in specific assignments
  • Assesses performance capabilities of process and products compared to competition.
  • Interacts with key vendors and customers on project specific needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Science or Engineering degree preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of related polymer industry experience.
  • Proficient in extrusion (cast, blown, non-woven) and adhesive laminate
  • Basic understanding of flexographic printing/coating process
  • Strong understanding of materials including non-wovens, extrusion coating polymers, films, papers and foils
  • Experience with Statistical Analysis such as DOEs, including proficiency with Statistical software
  • Experience with Problem Solving and Root Cause analysis
  • Strong technical and written communication skills
  • An established record of delivering creative and innovative solutions to technical problems
  • Demonstrated Program management capabilities to define and implement technical strategy and programs to support a major project having a significant technical and/or financial impact.
  • Provided strategic and tactical direction and leadership for Technical programs
  • Six Sigma experience a plus
  • Appropriate financial background allow financial impact analysis of projects and processes.
  • Accomplished in Technical interactions and communications with customers and suppliers
  • Travel: 25% - 50% as needed.
