We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on a wide range of machinery, equipment, and systems to ensure minimal downtime and optimal production performance. This role involves diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, troubleshooting equipment failures, and implementing timely repairs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a proactive approach to equipment reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement is essential.

Responsibilities

Must perform a wide range of general maintenance procedures on complex machinery, equipment, and facilities. In addition must have expertise in several maintenance areas, specializing in one or more of the following trades: Electrician, Electronics Technician, Machinist, Welder, Mechanic, HVAC or Millwright. 

    • Promote and support highest level of safety, both personally and with others, throughout daily activities.
    • Must perform a wide range of general maintenance procedures on complex machinery, equipment, and facilities.  In addition must have expertise in several maintenance areas, specializing in one or more of the following trades: Electrician, Electronics Technician, Machinist, Welder, Mechanic, HVAC or Millwright.
    • When in shift rotation be a maintenance leader and resource to the production teams by being the primary person responsible for plant maintenance on their shift.
    • Leadership or co-leadership of assigned maintenance systems i.e. overall shift, HVAC, risk assessments, screws/dies & system cleans. 
    • Must answer service calls, including occasional off shift emergency breakdowns.  Diagnose causes of malfunctions, make necessary repairs and adjustments, repair or replace defective parts, and reassemble and adjust equipment to proper operating condition.
    • Must provide effective troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of both an electrical and mechanical nature to all machines, equipment and facilities, including complex control panels, electronic controls and mechanical breakdowns.
    • Will provide training and instructions for operating personnel in basic theory of operation and maintenance of production and facilities equipment.
    • Must maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, observe prescribed safety precautions.
    • Must assist others to develop, implement and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance systems to assure reliability of equipment and support facilities.  Must demonstrate a high level of initiative and creativity in development of various maintenance systems and in the continuous improvement of equipment performance and reliability.
    • Assist and advise engineering personnel with planning and implementation of maintenance and project activities to improve equipment, facilities and processes.
    • Expected to possess and demonstrate the highest levels of technical skills, job management skills, initiative, commitment, creativity and teamwork.  Must be proactive in time management as to minimize the occurrence of line downtime for equipment related reasons.  This will at times require you by your own initiative to work overtime. 
    • Must work cooperatively among peers to ensure that all needed overtime and vacation relief is covered.    
    • Active involvement in maintaining daily maintenance systems.  
    • Active involvement in maintaining the storeroom and inventory system.  This includes strict adherence in following purchasing and inventory control system as outlined by the Buyer.  Must understand the storeroom check out and request systems.  This includes responsibility for inventory accuracy.
    • Active involvement in maintaining the maintenance documentation system.  This includes adherence to all document control procedures as outlined by the system leader or Plant Engineer.  
    • Active involvement in all precision, preventive and predictive maintenance efforts such as alignment, balancing, lubrication, oil analysis, inspections, calibration, adjustments, etc.
    • Active involvement in root-cause analysis to include adherence to all procedures pertaining to this i.e. parts taken to designated failed parts area.
    • Active daily involvement and full adherence to plant CMMS (Maximo) to include work order completion, handling of assigned tasks, follow-up work orders, etc.
    • Active daily utilization of practices such as line clearance after performing maintenance. 
    • Perform any similar or related duties as requested and work overtime as scheduled to address emergency breakdowns call-ins, and as business conditions require.

     

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • Highschool diploma or GED required.  Formalized training/certification is a plus.
    • 2 + years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to:
    • Noise, dust, vibrations, and moving mechanical parts.
    • Varying temperatures (hot or cold depending on the facility and season).
    • Occasional exposure to oils, greases, and industrial chemicals.
  • Frequent work near high-speed equipment and in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Will require use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, ear protection, and hard hats.

 

EFFORT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequent physical activities include:
    • Standing, walking, and climbing ladders or stairs for extended periods.
    • Bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching to access equipment.
    • Lifting or moving objects up to 50 lbs.; occasional assistance for heavier loads.
  • Fine motor skills and manual dexterity for handling tools, parts, and precision work.
  • Must have visual acuity and color vision sufficient to perform diagnostics and inspections.
  • Ability to work in awkward or tight spaces and at heights, sometimes using scaffolding or lifts.

 

HEALTH & SAFTEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow all workplace safety rules, procedures, and regulations, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and machine guarding.
  • Use of appropriate PPE at all times, report damaged or missing safety equipment.
  • Identify and report hazards or unsafe conditions to the supervisor or safety department immediately.
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations as required.
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace safety and equipment reliability.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas to reduce the risk of accidents or contamination.
  • Ensure that all maintenance tasks are performed in accordance with environmental and occupational health standards.
