This role will work Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm with some flexibility where required.  There will also be a requirement to attend our Aberdare and Molden sites on at least a monthly basis.  The role holder will also hold mentor/coaching responsitiblity to the IT Apprentice.

The individual is accountable for the overall technical health, stability, and continuous improvement of onsite IT services across [insert locations]. Acting as the highest local technical authority, this role provides strategic and operational leadership for onsite support, complex incident resolution, infrastructure stability, and alignment with Magnera global standards.

 

The role owns the resolution of complex, businesscritical, or systemic issues, leads local technology initiatives, and works closely with global IT, engineering, security, and manufacturing teams to ensure IT services enable operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Acts as the senior technical escalation point for complex or critical onsite incidents and problems.
  • Owns endtoend resolution of highimpact incidents, including deep diagnosis, rootcause analysis, and implementation of permanent corrective actions.
  • Provides technical leadership for onsite infrastructure, enduser computing, and manufacturingadjacent systems, ensuring resilience, performance, and security.
  • Defines, reviews, and enforces local implementation of Magnera IT standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Leads sitelevel technology initiatives and projects, including refresh programs, infrastructure upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives, from planning through execution.
  • Partners with global IT teams, vendors, and third parties to design and implement solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and security requirements.
  • Plays a key role in problem management, major incident reviews, and service improvement planning.
  • Provides technical coaching and mentorship to Level 1 and Level 2 team members, raising overall team capability and consistency.
  • Owns asset lifecycle governance at site level, including hardware standards, lifecycle planning, and risk management.
  • Maintains oversight of service performance, aging tickets, and recurring issues, driving systemic improvements to reduce incidents and downtime.
  • Contributes to budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimisation by providing technical insight, risk assessment, and investment recommendations.
  • Represents onsite IT interests in change control, operational governance, and crossfunctional meetings.

Travel

A full driver’s license (pertinent to the country of site), with car, is required. Travel between sites is expected and may occasionally include overnight stays.

 

 

Qualifications

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or typically five to seven years’ + experience providing handson IT support in an enterprise or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in enterprise IT environments, including enduser computing, onsite infrastructure, and integration with manufacturing or operational systems.
  • Strong experience in incident, problem, and change management within an ITILaligned environment.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex technical and business problems, design effective solutions, and communicate outcomes to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Computer Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and enterprise endpoint management.
  • Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong experience with Active Directory, Exchange, and identity management.
  • Handson experience with endpoint configuration, patching, system hardening, and security controls.
  • Strong working knowledge of ITSM platforms (e.g., SolarWinds Service Desk).
  • Advanced understanding of ITIL practices and service management principles.
  • Relevant seniorlevel certifications (e.g., MCSE, Azure, Infrastructure, ITIL) are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and mentorship capability.
  • Multilanguage support experience is advantageous.
